Re: Bi1155 -Kailua Village Business Improvement District
Dear Chairperson Yagong and Committee Members:
This letter is in strong support of Bi1155 which would establish the first business improvement
district in the County of Hawaii. It has been several yeazs since I first met with
representatives of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce about their desire to initiate a
business improvement district to improve conditions in Kailua-Kona. We helped get the
process rolling by providing $5,000 of the estimated $10,000 needed to take the first
preliminary steps towards the creation of this district. I am very pleased that this process has
now reached the point where the County's first business improvement district can be
established.
Creation of the Kailua Village Business Improvement District No. 1 is fully supported, and I
thank Council Member Pilago as well as former Council Member Curtis Tyler for their efforts
to make this possible.
