As I conveyed during our meeting, I did not foresee any adverse affect of sharing the planned driveway or access road. However, I must apologize if I misrepresented my authority and inform you that as the Fire Chief, I do not have the authority to grant or approve the use of County property or in this case, County roadway for shared access by the developer and his/her tenants or customers. Just as I can appreciate your intentions and efforts, I am confident that you can appreciate that it is my responsibility to provide you with accurate information to guide your decision making. With that being said, I again apologize for any misrepresentation of an administrative position and assure you that I will make a more concerted effort to provide you with reliable and accurate information with our future endeavors. I have enclosed the draft plans for the Pahoa Fire Station as well as an apparatus response summary as requested and will make myself and our staff available to you for any questions or concerns you may have.
