It is really unfortunate that the efforts of the PCDP working groups aze not being heazd before zoning changes are considered. Alot of people have been burning the oil lamps late into the evenings to come up with some recommendations for the PCDP before the Feb.15 report deadline. I keep encouraging them and telling them how Rand D and planning ...et al are with us as a team. When decisions relating to zoning and land use aze made without weighing in community input...before we make our deadline to submit reports, many are getting very frustrated. Human resources (Jane Testa and Steve McPeek, along with Ron Whitmore and big islanders aze investing superb efforts into coming up with leadership training for our island future.)Those serving in the PCDP process may not take leadership roles in the future if they feel their efforts aze getting burned. Interestingly, I was just sharing some concerns about this type of situation at the leadership Design Team last month. As the people of our Island districts see that the County Council is respecting and honoring our efforts in the CDP process and working with us as a collective ohana... it will do good in the healing process between government and the public. Kohala is beginning their CDP process. ICau is watching. Many many faces aze putting there faith back into govemment..some cautiously....but they are investing it. We will realize the dream of aloha between government and the public. Puna would benefit from a selfstorage facility in my humble opinion. The placement might want to be reconsidered. Once it's there it's there!.....baby steps! Lets wait and see what the CDP's have to offer. These are busy times! These aze exciting times. Trust in us as we trust in you. Lets work together on our future. Please hold off on any rezoning decisions for now. Mahalo for your consideration.-Stephanie Bath P.O. Box 457 Keaau 933-1131;966-8705 Comm.
