Subject: SUPPORT Bill 22 - E. HI Reload Facility
Bill 22: Adds $2,000,000 to ENVIRONMENTAL MGT: East Hawaii Reload Facility
Aloha Chairman Hoffman and Council Members!
I ask for your complete support of funds to be used towards the East Hawaii Reload
Facility Project, allowing construction of the reload building, scale trailer, scales,
utilities and roadways in the area of the existing Hilo Solid Waste Transfer Station.
As I have said several times, building the Reload Station well, will give much
flexibility. The tip floor would allow for many different options. We've got to get
going as fast as possible now, on getting the facility built, so that the life of the
current Hilo Landfill can be extended as long as possible.
Time is of the essence now please do not overturn all the work that has been done, vote
to support this important Bill. It's in your hands; and I hope this Council does not go
down in history, as several before you, as one which derailed the Reload Station. You're
so close keep it moving forward and get this Station built under your regime.
Mahalo nui loa,

I served as Chair of the Environmental Management Commission last year and remain on the
Commission. However, I am not speaking for the entire Commission. These are my personal
remarks only. Altho, I can assure you that every EMCommissioner fully supports the Reload
Facility Project.
