Subject: NO on Res 46-117
COUNCIL TESTIMONY:
I wish the following to be entered as testimony on resolution 46-0? reagrding the Civic Center in West
Hawaii:
I ask all Council members to vote "NO" on resolution 46-07.
The term "fiscally prudent" is highly misleading and unfairly characterizes the civic center in west
Hawaii as being extravagant. Fiscal prudence would have been achieved if the center was built 2 -10
years aga. It is also fiscally prudeet to build it today rather than 2-10 years in the future.
To accept the lowest quality bid is fiscally prudent; to remove design elements is not.
For those Council members who suggest the residents of Kona do not want a civic center, let me state
that 323 voting residents of my condominium community disagree and in fact feel the center plans could
be expanded today. Please, do not shortchange Kona again.
