Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 149, reports as follows:
Communication No. 149, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated February 1, 2007, nominates
Ms. Reiko Ford of Council District 7 to serve on the County of Hawaii Tax Boazd of Review.
Ms. Ford would replace Mr. Michael B. Sumja, whose term expired on December 31, 2006.
Ms. Ford is a six-yeaz resident of Hawaii. From 1970 to 2000 she was employed by the Miami
Valley Regional Planning Commission as an accountant. Ms. Ford is a volunteer with VASH
(Visitors Aloha Society of Hawai`i), and is a local tax aide coordinator for AARP. Ms. Ford
states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to end
on December 31, 2011.
Pursuant to Section 13-4, Hawaii County Charter, the boazd members shall be appointed by the
mayor with the approval of the council.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Ms. Reiko Ford to the County of
Hawaii Tax Boazd of Review.
