Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Shelly H. A. Ogata of Council District 3 to the
County of Hawaii Planning Commission. Ms. Ogata, a 36-year resident of
Hawaii, is presently a loan consultant at Home Loan Hawai'i.com, Inc. From
2003 to 2006, she was a loan processor at Pacific Mortgage and Loans.
Ms. Ogata is the current chairperson of the State Council on Mental Health, and
is a member of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Task Force. She is a
past member of the East Hawaii Tobacco Free Partnership. Ms. Ogata states
that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a
term to expire on December 31, 2007, replacing Allan Salavea, who resigned
when he was reapportioned out of the district. Pursuant to a recent Charter
amendment, Ms. Ogata may be eligible for reappointment to another term after
December 31, 2007.
