Dear Chairman Pilago and Committee Members:
SUBJECT: SOUTH KOHALA STEERING COMMITTEE
Previously Mayor Kim nominated 11 individuals for your review and confirmation regarding the
South Kohala Steering Committee on March 9, 2007. In the process of contacting the
nominees, it was discovered that Alvin Kawano is no longer able to fulfill the commitment of
serving on the South Kohala Steering Committee. I have attached for your review, his a-mail
request to withdraw his application, which was received in my office on Wednesday, March 13,
2007.
Mr. Kawano's confirmation was placed on the April 3, 2007 Planning Committee Agenda for
discussion and the confirmation scheduled on the April 18, 2007 full Council agenda. We are
asking that you please disregard his nomination and allow us to put forward another South
Kohala applicant to be considered at a later date. We are in the process of recommending
another individual to serve on the South Kohala Steering Committee and will forward a name to
the Mayor's office immediately.
