The Hawaii Tourism Authority created a statewide Tourism Strategic Plan in 2005 and subsequently funded the plans for each of the islands, including Hawaii Island in December 2006. The funds will be used to launch the plan to all of the relevant tourism-industry stakeholders, as well as residents of the community. Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Hawaii Tourism Authority. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $24,750 grant. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The Hawaii Tourism Authority created a statewide Tourism Strategic Plan in 2005 and subsequently funded plans for each of the islands, including Hawaii Island in December 2006. February 21, 2007 Ms. Jane Testa , Director Department of Research and Development County of Hawaii = 25 Aupunf Street, Room 109 Hilo, Hawal`i 96720 Dear Ms. Testa: Subject: Letter of Agreement by and between the Hawaf'i Tourism Authority (HTA) and the County of Hawaii The HTA desires to execute a Letter of Agreement (LOA) with the County of Hawal'i (hereinafter referred to as "Contrector") to provide goods and/or services related to the planning oversight for the Hawaii County Tourism Strategic Plan: 2006.2015. Enclosed is a standard LOA for your appropriate attention and action. The LOA includes a description of goods and services to be provided by you, the Contractor, the Compensation and Method of Payment Schedule, the Time of Pertormance, and other Special Provisions. Please review the LOA closely as it will establish the terms and conditions under which you will be paid for the goods and/or services. If you agree wRh the terms and conditions, please execute the LOA in the presence of a notary public and return It, in Its entirety, to the HTA for further processing, no later than Fridav. March 9.2007. Upon receipt of the original, notarized LOA, signed by the Contractor, the HTA wilt forward to the Contractor a copy of the LOA executed by both parties.
