Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which
authorizes the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal
property, and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County Code,
which states that any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures
of the department of finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we
request the Council's approval of the following donation:
Dry Erase Board (estimated value of $300) and Cork Bulletin Board (estimated value
of $200) to the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Division's Elderly
Recreation Services; to be used at the Kamana Senior Center for the senior classes
and as an additional announcement bulletin board of the programs and community
events; by Stationers, Mr. Tommy Hirano, P.O. Box 4609, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge the donation of a $300.00 Dry Erase Board and a $200.00 Cork Bulletin Board
for the Parks & Recreation, Elderly Activities Division's Elderly Recreation Services.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Mr. Tommy Hirano of Stationers (P.O. Box 4609 Hilo, HI. 96720) has generously donated a extra large dry
erase board and a extra large cork bulletin board to use at Kamana Senior Center for the senior classes.
These boards will be utilized for Gasses such as Ikebana, Hawaiian Language, Conversational Japanese,
Ukulele and other Gasses as an instructional aid. Another benefit will be to allow for an additional
announcement bulletin of the programs and community events.
