RESOLUTION NO. 1.55 U~7
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Arc of Kona is a private, non-profit, chazitable organization supporting
people with disabilities so that they may easily enter the mainstream of society and contribute
their talents and skills to the community; and
WHEREAS, the Arc of Kona operates twelve sepazate programs, which include a
residential home for individuals with developmental disabilities, vocational rehabilitation
programs, transportation services for adult mental health consumers that provide positive support
to a minimum of 600 people throughout each yeaz; and
WHEREAS, last yeaz, Jeani Navarro, Director of Supports and Services, collaborated
with Dr. Jan Brecncik to write a Paza-professional Care-giving Course that was accepted by UH-
Hilo's Office of Continuing Education and Osher College to train care-givers the skills to meet
the challenge of educating people with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the
Department of Reseazch and Development to be used as a grant towazds Arc of Kona to produce
two training videos: 1) a Safety video that visually portrays dangerous situations, how to
recognize them and how to protect the employee and the participant from injury or illness, and 2)
Ethics in the Workplace as part of their new employee orientation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Reseazch and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
