Re: Request reconsideration of Resolution No. 96-07
On April 4, 2007, the County Council adopted Resolution No. 96-07 that allowed the acceptance
of a monetary gift from the Gregg Malkin Memorial Foundation. This gift was given by Glenn and
Donna Malkin who wanted to recognize the tireless efforts and the compassion they witnessed
during the life-threatening attempts of the Hawaii Fire Department's rescue team to rescue their
son, Gregg Malkin, who perished in a drowning accident, offshore of Maku'u Drive in Hawaiian
Paradise Park. However, the site of the accident was incorrectly noted on Resolution No. 96-07.
Due to this inadvertent error, we ask for a reconsideration of Resolution No. 96-07 and that the
enclosed resolution, with the correct incident site, be adopted by the County Council and sent to
the Malkin Family.
We humbly request a waiver from the Finance Committee and have this resolution heard at the
next Council meeting scheduled for April 18, 2007.

RE: Resolution, Bill or Communication No, 15907 :Kesolution authorizing the
acceptance of a monetary gift of three thousand six hundred sixty one dollars and five
cents ($3,661.05) from the Gregg Malkin Memorial Fund to the Hawaii Fire Department
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this
matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the
matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Finance Committee
for placement on its future agenda.
