Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following named persons to
the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency (HRA):
• Aileen Lum of Hilo is a life-time resident of Hawaii, and
since 1987 has been the Court Administrator of the
Judiciary, State of Hawaii. Ms. Lum is involved with the
Hawaii Island United Way, the Habitat for Humanity and the
Hawaii County Board of Ethics, a seat she will vacate on
December 31, 1997. She reports that she has no affiliation
to any political party. Ms. Lum will be replacing Janice
Harvey Yee of Hilo, who had resigned for personal reasons.
If approved, she will serve the balance of the unexpired
term which will end on December 31, 2000.
• David K. Reed of Hilo is a 40-year resident of Hawaii, and
since 1974 has been the owner of Petroglyph Press, Ltd.
Mr. Reed is involved with the Downtown Improvement
Association, Destination Hilo, the Hilo Rotary Club and the
Elk's Club of Hilo. He is a member of the Democratic
Party. If approved, he will replace Randolph A. Rohner,
whose term has expired and will serve a term to end on
December 31, 2002.
