Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of C. Kenneth Sowden
of Hilo, to the Hawaii County Water Commission, to replace Tom
Poy of Hamakua, whose term expired on December 31, 1996.
Mr. Sowden is a 30-year resident of Hawaii and since 1996, has
been employed by the Monarch Insurance Service. Prior to that,
he was with Marsh & McLennan, Inc. (1980-1995). Mr. Sowden is
a member of the Hilo Yacht Club, the Rotary Club, the Elks Club
and the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce. He states that he
has no affiliation with any political party.
If approved, Mr. Sowden will serve the balance of the unexpired
term which will end on December 31, 2001. Should the Council
need further information regarding this submission, you may
call me at your convenience.
