Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of Wilfred M. Okabe
of Council District 3, to the Hawaii County Police Commission
to replace Donald E. Abdul of Council District 3, whose term of
office will expire on December 31, 1997.
Mr. Okabe is a life-time resident of Hawaii and has been a
teacher with the State Department of Education since 1984. His
community activities are with the East Hawaii Coalition for the
Homeless, the Dream Come True Committee and the Hawaii State
Teachers Association. He reports that he has no affiliation to
any political party.
If approved, Mr. Okabe will serve a term to end on December 31,
2002. Should the Council need further information regarding
this submission, you may call me at your convenience.
