Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation's Safe Community Program, has
authorized a $33,299 grant to the Hawaii Fire Department Generator Purchase program, for
the purchase of twenty sets of generators, lights, and traffic signs. The grant funds, derived
from the National Highway Safety Act of 1966, will be used to purchase equipment that will
provide a well lit and well marked accident scene on poorly lit rural highways and to protect
motor vehicle accident victims and the fire personnel from injury and death. The equipment
will be assigned to designated fire stations around the island.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawaii Department of Transportation for this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this
$33,299 Generator Purchase Grant.
