A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND
FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, on January 1, 2007, the Pana`ewa Family Center had a suspicious fire
that destroyed the entire contents and part of the building structure, which had an estimated
loss of $500,000; and
WHEREAS, the Pana`ewa Hawaiian Home Lands Community Association
(PHHLCA) has requested funds to purchase educational supplies to promote a healthy life
style for youth in Pana`ewa and to assist with various programs at the Pana`ewa Family
Center; and
WHEREAS, the prograzns that will be helped by this funding are INPEACE Keiki
steps, a school readiness pazent-child interaction program for children 0-5 years old, an after
school enrichment program to assist children with homework; Teen Challenge, for youth
between the ages of 13 -18, and the Panaewa Hawaiian Home Lands Community Association;
and
WHEREAS, discretionazy funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the
Department of Liquor Control to be used as a grant towazds Haloa Inc. for the Pana`ewa
Faznily Center for the purchase of and educational supplies; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and the Director of Finance and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms
of this resolution.
