A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 537-06, RELATING TO
TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED
FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 537-06 transferred $10,000 from Council District 8
discretionary funds to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office-Kona Prosecuting Attorney Oce,
Miscellaneous Contract Services Account and used as a grant towards the Na Kalai Wa`a Moku
o Hawaii -Drug Prevention and Youth Anti-Violence Awareness program; and
WHEREAS, the funding request covered by Resolution No. 537-06 was subsequently
withdrawn and the $10,000 will now be appropriated to fund the domestic violence awareness
program sponsored by the Prosecuting Attorney's Office; and
WHEREAS, domestic violence consists of physical, sexual, psychological, emotional
and/or verbal abuse inflicted upon family members and intimate partners; and
WHEREAS, the month of November 2007 has been designated "Domestic Violence
Awareness Month"; and
WHEREAS, education and awareness solicited through media campaigns are key
elements that disseminate important information, provide much needed outreach to victims of
domestic violence and continue a conscious effort in the fight against domestic violence; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
discretionary funds from Council District 8 originally appropriated to the Prosecuting Attorney's
Office under Resolution No. 537-06 for $10,000 will be used as a grant to fund a media
campaign in West Hawaii to promote domestic violence awareness and education in recognition
of"Domestic Violence Awareness Month"; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and that the Prosecuting Attorney is hereby authorized to
make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
