A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Kohala Center is a 501(c)3 corporation with a mission to respectfully
engage the Island Of Hawaii as a living laboratory for humanity; and
WHEREAS, the Kohala Center proposes to work at Kahulu`u Beach Park to restore the
beach and tide pools and to provide citizens and visitors with cultural and educational programs;
and
WHEREAS, the Kohala Center will expand the activities of ReefWatchers, an ongoing,
on-site program to save the near shore environment by teaching reef etiquette and emphasizing
the importance of coral reefs to marine ecology and hold monthly cultural and educational events
that bring local families and visitors to the Park; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the
Department of Research and Development to be used as a grant towards the Kohala Center to
educate island residents and vistors and restore Kahulu`u Park; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this resolution
to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
