Significant changes to the amendments to the Plumbing Code are as follows: 1) Format change throughout to model format used by the City and County of Honolulu to improve the readability of the Code; 2) Pennits shall not be required in the case of any replacement work for the following: replacement or repair of garbage disposals, faucets and fixtures, to include sinks, water closets and heaters for non-commercial occupancies only; 3) Permits will be required when such repairs do involve or require the replacement or rearrangement of valves or pipes; 4) All repairs or replacement work shall be done by licensed plumber licensed in the State of Hawaii; and 4) There is no increase in plumbing permit fees. Mr. Fernandez of Council District 9 is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and is retired from Renter's Choice, where he was employed as a manager from 1992 to 1997. Not affiliated with any political party, if confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2011, replacing Mr. Michael Sumja, whose term expired on December 31, 2006. Ms. Hultman-Salfen is an 18-year resident of Hawaii. She is currently the manager of the Nanawale Community Association. From 1991 to 2000, she was employed by Paul H. Rosendahl, Ph.D., Inc., as project accountant. Not affiliated with any political party, if confirmed, she will serve a tens to end on December 31, 2009.
