A RESOLUTION TRANSFERKING/AYYROYRIA'I'iN(G AN AYYROYRIAI'ION OU'P
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the mission of the Hawaii Island Humane Society is to promote respect for
all animals, prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the
relationship between humans and animals; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Humane Society helps animals in need by using
volunteers who gain valuable skills in companion animal Gaze and behavior, customer service,
and team work, including training opportunities for long-term volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Humane Society has recently started a pilot disease
screening project to determine the number of animals that were positive for feline infectious
virus and feline leukemia as well parvo vims in dogs, and determined that ten percent of the
animals in the control group have tested positive for infectious diseases; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Humane Society is funded by donations and the County
of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the
Police DepartmenUAnimal Control to be used as a grant towazds the Hawaii Island Humane
Society to provide testing materials for 900 animals; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred appropriated asset forth below:

to the Chief of Police and the Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
