Please accept the following proposed floor <br /> <br /> amendment to bi1123 that should help to prevent these types of problems in the future. <br /> <br /> This proposed floor amendment would add new language to article 3 (Installation <br /> <br /> Requirements), section 17-47, of the bill. This proposed new paragraph should be appropriately <br /> <br /> numbered and would read as follows: (The changes to the first sentence are ramseyered for <br /> <br /> illustrative purposes only.) <br /> "Amending Section 510.5. Section 510.5 is amended by <br /> changing the first sentence to read: <br /> [In} Due to seismic [~ewes~3-ar~d4,} activity in Hawaii <br /> County, all new water heaters shall be anchored or <br /> strapped to the floor and anchored or strapped on the top <br /> one third of the heater to a well anchored. structural wall, to <br /> resist horizontal displacement due to earthquake motion." <br /> Comm.
