Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 96-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 46-07, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 66 by Director of Finance William Takaba,
via Communication No. 232, dated Mazch 6, 2007, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary gift of
$3,661.05 to the Hawaii Fire Department from the Gregg Malkin Memorial Foundation. Glenn and
Donna Malkin wishes to recognize the treless efforts and the compassion they witnessed during the
life-threatening attempts of the Hawaii Fire Departrnent's rescue team to rescue their son, Gregg
Malkin, who perished in a drowning accident at the King's Landing.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, it provides that the Council,
on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other personal
property or real estate or any interest in real estate.
There was no discussion on the measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 96-07 and
recommends its adoption.
