Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 98-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 98-07, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 234, dated Mazch 7, 2007, authorizes the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year for
the upcoming multi-year service contract for island-wide Transfer Station collection and hauling
of recyclables.
The majority of single family residences dispose of their wastes at the island-wide transfer
collection stations, the County finds it in their best interest to contract for private services of
collection and hauling of recyclables with atwo-yeaz agreement, with two (2) one-year options
to extend contracted services.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 98-07
and recommends its adoption.
