Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 259, reports as follows:
Communication No. 259, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
Mazch 15, 2007, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Mr. Tommy Hirano of Stationers.
Mr. Tommy Hirano of Stationers, has graciously donated a dry erase boazd and a cork bulletin
boazd to the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Division's Elderly Recreation
Services; to be used at the Kamana Senior Center for the senior classes such as Ikebana,
Hawaiian language, conversational Japanese, ukulele, and other classes as an instructional aid,
and as an additional announcement bulletin board of the programs and community events. The
value of both of the donation is estimated at $500.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall
be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Tommy Hirano, Stationers, P. O. Box 4609, Hilo,
Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the dry erase boazd and the cork bulletin
boazd from Mr. Tommy Hirano to the Department of Pazks and Recreation.
