RESOLUTION NO. 189 0'7
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO
A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development ("R&D") has undertaken
the planning and implementation of the Hilo Bayfront Trails; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo Bayfront Trails is a three-phase project to construct amulti-use
path spanning Hilo Bayfront; and
WHEREAS, the first phase includes the development of a comprehensive plan
including community input to improve and enhance the area's natural beauty, increase access
for residents and visitors, and to protect the fragile coastline and waterways; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Hilo Bayfront Trails will extend along Hilo Bay from the
cruise ship terminal at the Port of Hilo to the Wailuku River in Downtown Hilo; and
WHEREAS, the proposed trail will provide a safe and scenic pathway for pedestrians,
joggers, runners, bicyclers, and others who want to utilize the path; and
WHEREAS, monies are needed to complete Phase 1 of the project; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the
Department of Research and Development to be used towazds completion of the Phase 1 of
the project; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $25,000
CREDITED TO:
010.161.5161.60 Department of Research and Development - $25,000
Tourism Promotion (Hilo Bayfront Trails)
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with
the terms of this resolution.
