RESOLUTION NO. 195 0'7
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii General Plan, Section 12 -Recreation, Subsection
12.3 Policies, adopted by the County Council in February of 2005, established the following
policies:
`...(m) Develop a network of pedestrian access trails to places of scenic, historic, natural
or recreational values. This system of trails shall provide, at a minimum, an island-
wide route connecting major parks and destinations.
(n) Establish a program to inventory ancient trails, cart roads and old government
roads on the island in coordination with appropriate State agencies.
(o) Develop facilities and safe pathway systems for walking, jogging, and biking
activities....
(u) Provide access to public hunting areas."
and
WHEREAS, the Districts of North and South Kona are in the process of completing a
Community Development Plan that will have scenic, historic, natural, recreational, and cultural
components; and
WHEREAS, one of the most important cultural, historic and recreational assets of North
and South Kona are the existing trails; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the
Department of Planning to be used to complete a mapped inventory of Trails for the Districts of
North and South Kona, beginning with the shoreline access trails; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Planning Director and the Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
Resolution.
