COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO. 198 0'7
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RECEIPT AND EXPENDITURE OF STATE
FUNDING APPROPRIATED BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE PURSUANT TO
ACT 178, SESSION LAWS OF HAWAII 2005, FOR COMMUNITY ANTI-DRUG
EFFORTS ON THE ISLAND OF HAWAII
WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 178, Session Laws of Hawaii
2005, which appropriated funding for the County of Hawaii to continue its anti-drug abuse efforts;
and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used:
a.) to fund grassroots community efforts to sustain its anti-drug campaigns; provided that no
single nonprofit entity shall receive more than $5,000 and provided further that no funds
shall be expended under this section unless matched by funds from the County of
Hawaii;
b.) for community adolescent drug prevention programs on the Island of Hawaii;
c.) for community-based substance abuse prevention programs, with priority given to drug
education and awareness in the schools, community partnerships, and non-school
youth activities in communities with the greatest need; and
d.) for community anti-drug efforts aimed at preventing crystal methamphetamine use.
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments
obtain the consent of the council to expend, and receive any funds or other assistance the federal
or state governments in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to any powers
granted by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it authorizes the receipt and expenditure of funds for community anti-drug efforts on
the Island of Hawaii, pursuant to Act 178, Session Laws of Hawaii 2005.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of Management and the Finance Department.
