The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General has authorized an additional
$10,002 to the Hawaii Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for its coordination of a statewide
training program aimed at improving the delivery of sexual assault services within the
criminal justice system.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget and increasing the Sexual
Assault Multi-Disciplinary Training account by $10,002 and bringing the total appropriation to
$44,502.

INCREASE REVENUE IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,002 AND DISTRIBUTE TO DESIGNATED ACCOUNT

We have been approved to receive additional federal grant funds through the State Department of the
Attorney General to coordinate a statewide 3-day training aimed at improving the delivery of sexual assault
services within the criminal justice system.

We have selected the Statewide Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplinary Training to receive an additional
F'Y 2003 Edward Byme Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Formula Program award in
the amount of $44,502 (Federal). The awazd is available until December 31, 2007.
To receive the additional award, the Office of the Prosecuting Attomey shall be responsible for
providing the 25% cash match.

Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
