A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO
A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, on January 1, 2007, the Pana`ewa Family Center had a suspicious fire
that destroyed the entire contents and part of the building structure, which had an estimated
loss of $500,000; and
WHEREAS, the Pana`ewa Hawaiian Home Lands Community Association
(PHHLCA) has requested funds to pwchase educational supplies to promote a healthy life
style for youths in Pana`ewa and to assist with various programs at the Pana`ewa Family
Center; and
WHEREAS, the programs that will be helped by this funding are INPEACE Keiki
steps, a school readiness parent-child interaction program for children 0-5 years old, an after
school enrichment program to assist children with homework, Teen Challenge for youth
between the ages of 13 -18, and the Pana`ewa Hawaiian Home Lands Community
Association; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the
Department of Parks and Recreation to be used towards purchasing supplies, equipment,
computers for the Pana`ewa Family Center; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

010.500.5507.06 Department of Parks and Recreation $11,000

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forwazd a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessazy transfers in accordance with
the terms of this resolution.
