Dear Chair Pilago and Members of the Committee on Planning:
SUBJECT: PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 11
AFFORDABLE HOUSING REQUIREMENTS
There is an item on the agenda of the Planning Committee for May 14, 2007, involving a
letter sent by myself and the administrator of the office of housing and community
development, dated Apri120, 2007, proposing an amendment to Chap. 11, the county
affordable housing policy. Although we would like this amendment to be considered and
eventually passed by the council, the matter should probably be referred to the Housing
Agency. In the past, when amendments to Chap. 11 have been considered, they were
first referred to the Housing Agency. This communication may have been put on the
Planning Committee agenda because it was written on Planning Deparhnent letterhead.
Thus, unless the council feels otherwise, this matter should be referred to the Housing
Agency for initial review.
