HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0349.013 2006-2008 Regarding: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTORS OF FINANCE TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF TAX MAP KEY PARCELS 9-8-001:012, AND PARCELS COMPRISING 10.195 ACRES OF LAND, ALSO KNOWN AS PUNALU'U BEACH PARK . The Ka'u Chamber of Commerce has been quite satisfied with Councilman Jacobson's communication and involvement with his constituents, when important issues come up. Recently, he's attended numerous meetings in Ocean View regarding the transfer station. However, the Ka'u Chamber of Commerce, the HOVE Community Center, and the Ocean View Community Development Corp., to name a few, are among many associations and organizations in Ka'u that have yet to hear from Councilman Jacobson regarding this very important Punalu'u development . Who made the Ka'u Preservation Society the management brokers for this plan? It's clear to Mr. Jacobson's constituents that more clarity is needed. Public meetings with the Ka'u Preservation Society, the Developers, and OKK need to be scheduled. The Ka'u Chamber of Commerce believes it is premature to discount future negotiations with any developers seriously willing to discuss future development at Punalu'u. The Chamber is even more concerned at Councilman Jacobson's decision to exclude any formal attempt to inform or gather valuable input from the general public in Ocean View regarding Punalu'u. The Ka'u Chamber of Commerce, The HOVE Community Center and the Ocean View Community Development Corp. invite Councilman Jacobson to our next meetings. Sincerely, Ken Wicks Pres.
