Hello Ladies, Gentlemen and Members of the Council my name is Howard Salmo I'm a
resident of Ka'u and lived here for the past 48 years. I am in favor of having Punaluu
being purchase by the County government to make way for a community park and an
educational cultural center. It will be a plus to our community to have a county park at
Punaluu so our younger ones can enjoy the undeveloped beaches and natural resources
we have along the Ka'u coast line. I stay in Kona during my workdays and come home to
Ka'u on my days off. I once was told that don't give up on what you already have but to
take care of your needs not the wants. Also I like to add is that there are more jobs on this
Island than workers, employers now is already getting more foreign workers from other
parts of the world just to keep up with the work demands due to over developments. In
closing I like to say I'm sorry for not being there and like to thank all of you here today
for taking the time off to listen to everyones testimonies. Please vote yes for the purchase
of Punaluu so everyone can enjoy the natural beauty of its environment in the district of
Ka'u.
