MAHUNA, POLICE CHIEF SUBJECT: MARIJUANA ERADICATION MISSION FOR THE MONTHS OF APRIL & MAY, 2007 The Hawaii Police Department conducted an in-house marijuana eradication mission in East Hawaii on April 20, 2007 and marijuana eradication missions on April 30-May 1, 2007, in West Hawaii and May 2-4, 2007, in East Hawaii. As required by Resolution No. 46-01, reports indicating the number of plants eradicated and the number of complaints received from the public, the type of complaint and the complaint disposition are attached. Caller has grandchildren so wants to know if there is something they should be aware of so they can inform the children not to go in the area. Date/Time Occurred: 05-02-07/0900-1730 Location: Eden Roc S/D, Puna Complaint: Caller related that a bright yellow helicopter has flown at low levels near caller's house constantly between 0900 hours and 1730 hours on this date. Caller was opposed to marijuana eradication, indicating that the Police should be concentrating on investigating the "ice" problem. Correia Date/Time: OS-02-07/1900 Reason for Being in Area: Police personnel eradicated 227 marijuana plants from the above described area. Time in Area: 30 minutes No. of Plants Recovered: 227 Immediate Action Taken: None Comments: Per helicopter personnel, they spent about 30 minutes to edradicate marijuana plants within the Eden Roc S/D, and were within the limitations set forth in the HPD proceedures. It should be noted that the aircraft utilized in this operation i ughe 500 which can only stay airborn about 2 hours on a full tank of gas. ~ Submitted By: t. Steven A.
