Aloha Chairperson Ford and members of the Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee,
I am vvrlting lri Support Of amending Bill 51 as proposed in Communication 176.35 from Brenda Ford.
Specifically, I support:
• placing strict limits on the amount of development that can occur on slopes that are 10% or greater.
• raising the requirements in Chapter 27 from the 10-year flood standard to the 100-year flood standard.
• bringing specific requirements from the County's General Plan, Section 5. Flooding and Natural Hazard, into Chapter 27, [he
County's Floodplain Management law
• requiring [he creation of an integrated electronic informational database that will accessible to all County agencies and [he general
public.
• requiring 30-year old flood maps to be updated and expanded to include not only FEMA flood channels, but numerous mauka/makai
"historic ditches" that only flow intermittently during high rainfall events.
Finally, I oppose Communication 176.40 from Public Works Director Bruce McClure requesting postponement of the
above amendments being proposed by Council members Brenda Ford and Pete Hoffmann.
