Specifically, I support: • placing strict limits on the amount of development that can occur on slopes that are 10% or greater. • raising the requirements in Chapter 27 from the 10-year flood standard to the 100-year flood standard. • bringing specific requirements from the County's General Plan, Section 5. Flooding and Natural Hazard, into Chapter 27, the County's Floodplain Management law • requiring the creation of an integrated electronic informational database that will accessible to all County agencies and the general public. • requiring 30-year old flood maps to be updated and expanded to include not only FEMA flood channels, but numerous maukalmakai "historic ditches' that only flow intermittently during high rainfall events. 5/15/2007 Ref. zrti- Page 2 of 2 Finally, I oppose Communication 176.40 from Public Works Director Bruce McClure requesting postponement of the above amendments being proposed by Council members Brenda Ford and Pete Hoffmann. Sincerely, Tom Langenstein 5/15/2007
