Aloha mai Chairperson Ford and members of the Public Works and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee,
I support amending Bill 51, Draft 2 as proposed in Communication 176.35 from Brenda Ford:
If adopted, Communication 176.35 would satisfy certain terms within the Hokuli'a settlement agreement
which required revision of Chapter 27.
Given that the County Administration has already agreed to last September 14, 2006 as a deadline for
revising Chapter 27, I do not support Communication 176.40 which requests a further extension of time.
There is no need fora "Technical Evaluation Ad Hoc Committee" until after Bill 51, Draft 2 as amended by
Communication 176.35 has been adopted.
However, after passage of the afore-mentioned bill, such a committee would be useful in assisting the
Department of Public Works to develop the County's first Floodplain Management Plan as required by the
General Plan.
