SUBJECT: LUNAPULE ROAD SEWER EXTENSION
ROYAL POINCIANA ROAD SEWER EXTENSION
Pursuant to section 21-26, Hawaii County Code, which requires that the Council approve all
sewer extensions, we are submitting the attached resolutions for your consideration. We have
SRF loan funds available from the Alii Drive Sewer Projects and would like to utilize these
funds to further extend the sewer to either or both of the above projects. Both of these areas were
planned to ultimate]y be connected to the sewer and the Alii Sewer was designed to handle this
flow. Additionally, as part of the grant conditions for the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment
Plant, the County is required to meet 75% of the design flow for the treatment plant. At our
current flowrate of approximately 1.0 mgd, we are meeting only 36°/n of the 2.8 mgd design
capacity. It is unclear at this time if the connection of Alii Drive alone will allow us to meet the
75% requirement.
Under separate cover, we are transmitting the proposed resolution to the Public Works
Committee Chair for introduction. We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the
