Regarding:
Resolution 188-07 - "Committing to funding the cost items awarded by
azbitration to the Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA)
Bargaining Unit 09 for the contract period July 1, 2007 through June 30,
2009."
I am writing on behalf of over 6000 HGEA members living in Hawaii County.
We request your support and the support of your fellow Finance Committee members in
the passage of the above-referenced Resolution.
The HGEA initiated the negotiation process for the 2007-2009 Unit 09
Agreement in the Spring of 2006. We proceeded through negotiations, impasse and
arbitration on behalf of all registered professional nurses in bargaining unit 09. An
Arbitration Decision was issued on April 18, 2007. We respectfully request that you
pass Resolution 188-07 to appropriate the funding for this "final and binding" azbitration
decision.
