or N~ <br /> ~~r~~.~• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> .,+,o <br /> ••~'f~O~~M• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 229 0'7 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO <br /> A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department has requested funds to purchase <br /> new radars; and <br /> WHEREAS, the new radars will greatly enhance enforcement efforts, especially with <br /> the new legislation such as the "excessive speeding law", which target drivers traveling 30 <br /> mph over the posted speed limit or exceeding 80 mph. The Hawaii County Police <br /> Department issued 8,389 speeding citation in 2006 and it is critical to continue aggressive <br /> enforcement efforts to reduce the high speeding-related fatalities; and <br /> WHEREAS, with the purchase of new radars, the Hawaii County Police Department <br /> will be able to replace the obsolete KR-10 Sp units, many of them were purchased in the <br /> 1980's. There are cun•ently 30 serviceable radars that constantly need to be serviced or <br /> repaired, with an average 3-5 radars needing repairs every two weeks; and <br /> WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the <br /> Hawaii County Police Department to be used towards the purchase of radars for the <br /> department; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> the following amount is hereby transfened/appropriated asset forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $23,080 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-council SVC -Contingency Relief $23,080 <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> 010.201.5203.20 Hawaii County Police Department $23,080 <br /> Police Adm Div-Equip <br /> (Radars) <br /> <br />
