I am writing with support to my beloved sister's named resolution. Mahalo nui loa for your timely
initiative and protection of the coastal areas and adjacent lands at Punalu'u. Further, this best utilizes
our county's Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund. This follows the
Mayor's recommendation that Punalu'u Beach Pazk and adjacent lands become the number two priority
for purchase. This resolution is a powerful start in addressing our community, Hawaii Island, State and
Global neighbors' voices and stewazdship for our aina.
Punalu'u beach is my home - I was raised by my grandparents in the Hawaiian culture tradition of the
hanai system. On behalf of the members of the Bangay Estate including: Christopher Bangay, Joseph
Bangay, Mrs. Helen (Bangay) Galban, and Mrs. Elizabeth
(Bangay) Bell we look forward to see the passing of the resolution to allow for MATCHING FEDERAL
FUNDS to be used. Let us empower the residence of Ka'u to property manage and continue to provide
the "living classroom educational environment" to our future generations.
