Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 285, reports as follows:
Communication No. 285, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated Mazch 23, 2007, nominate Ms.
Gazcia to the County of Hawaii Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation
Commission.
Council District 7 -Ms. Gazcia is a 37-yeaz resident of Hawaii and is self-employed as an
independent paper carrier for West Hawaii Today, she is an active scuba diver and paddler, and
has volunteered extensively in the community. She is not affiliated with any political party, if
confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2009, replacing Jocelyn Garovoy,
who resigned.
Pursuant to Article XIV, Section 14-5, Hawaii County Charter, there shall be a board of ethics,
consisting of five members who shall be residents of the County, appointed by the mayor with
the approval of the council.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Ms. Gazcia to the Hawaii County
Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission to serve a term
ending December 31, 2009.
