Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 107-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 107-05, transmitted by Council Member Bob Jacobson, via Communication No. 292, dated
May 18, 2005, modifies the Special Fuel Tax Program that exempts the present County fuel tax of $.022
cents per gallon for biodiesel.
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 243-5, Hawaii Revised Statutes, enable, empower, and authorize the
Council of the County of Hawaii to determine the amount of the county fuel tax.
The purpose of this resolution is to exempt fuel containing twenty (20) per cent or greater by volume of
biodiesel from fuel tax and to promote the production and use of alternative fuels in Hawaii.
On June 14, 2005, Committee on Finance, approved a motion to postpone Resolution No. 107-05 indefinitely
due to technical problems and further reseazch.
Council Member Bob Jacobson came forth with a replacement resolution being Resolution No. 109-07, and
made a motion to file this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends to file Resolution No. 107-05.
