Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 172-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 172-07, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 90 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 352, dated April 16, 2007, authorizing the acceptance
of the monetazy contribution of $12,500 from the Firemans Fund Insurance Company's grant
program, which issues funds to fire departments throughout the United States for various needs.
The Hawaii Fire Department applied for and was granted said amount from this program to
contract a certified instructor to train officers to the Instructor II level. These funds will go
directly to certifying 10-20 members of the department's instructors under the National Fire
Protection Association Qualification Boazd.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council,
on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 172-07
and recommends its adoption.
