Aloha our names are Paul and Nona Makuakane. We were both born and raised in Ka'u and have lived here all
our lives, which is 47 years. We intend to live the rest of our lives here because we love Ka'u and its lifestyle.
We SUPPORT RESOLUTION 169-07. We ask for your support also. You're decision will affect our lifestyle and
the people in Ka'u.
Ka'u is one of the last great places on the island that is not developed and we hope that it never will be. Punalu'u
is one of the many sacred places in Ka'u which is important to us and our family. The cultural and historical
heritage, natural ecosystems and habitat at Punalu'u must be preserved for our children and for future
generations.
Our family often frequent the mountains and the ocean for cultural, recreational, and sustainable purposes. We
want our grandchildren and their children to live and enjoy these same experiences.
We need to help preserve and conserve the Ka'u District so that future generations may live and enjoy the same
experiences we do today. Do not let it be lost for the financial benefit of another. So we ask you to support
Resolution 169-07.
