Subject: punaluu resolution 169-07
Dear County Council Members,
My wife and I visit Punaluu beach regularly and wish to add our support to the Keolalani Hanoa Resolution to
preserve the local flavor of that beach park and surrounding coastal areas. It has been a lovely and relatively
untouched HAWAIIAN style beach since my first contact in 1979 and I believe it is in the best interests of the Big
Island environment, culture and tourism experience to keep it intact. Too many of Hawaii's beach parks have
been paved to the max and plastered with development right up to the boundaries of the county, signs posted
everywhere and tour buses and visitors with little to offer in their brief passing determining the feel and rewards of
being at the beach. If Hawaii's beaches all turn "californian" in flavor---we all will rue their compromise a couple of
decades from now. A conservative stance on development in Kau will pay off in the long run, to be sure....
Thank you,
EB and April Cravens
