Please restore the funds for the Marijuana Eradication Program, to the current budget,
for the Hawaii County Police Department.
Agenda item -Operating Budget Bill #60
The Police Department should have control of this operation and how the funds are used as well as
when and where. They know the problems and what is needed. After all it is their territory.
This Grant is not automatic and by eliminating it from the budget it is questionable when or if it
will be available. In addition, once again, we will have to work to have it funded in this manner.
This program will continue, even if left out of the current budget.. However, the DEA will come in and
do it when and where and by THEIR own set of rules. Hawaii County will have lost any control of
this program on our own island.
