Dear Town Council,
We are Californians and visited your area with my friends who live in Na'alehu. We were able to see
the beautiful country of the island of Hawaii because most town councils in the southern region have
had the forethought to know what happens to the islands when big developers move in and propose their
developments.
We suggest you examine this proposal very carefully and consider the repercussions for allowing this
development--not just today or tomorrow, but decades in the future. Let developers build in the areas
where development has already taken place on you northwest shores or better yet not at all!!!
The southern region of Hawaii should be off limits to those who propose big developments in the name
of providing jobs for residents--those can be found in your tourist regions not the beautiful lush tropical
areas of South Point or beyond!!
We urge you to choose carefully town council, what you do today could become the end of what you
know tomorrow. Living in California we know what developers can do to a small town--they have
ruined ours in a matter of twenty years all in the name of progress! I We wish to return to Na'alehu to
see our friends, Paul and Naomi Routon, and enjoy the country in its natural state not wall to wall
development!
Yours Truly,
Bob and Beverly Borgman
