Subject: Save our Puna luu
My name is Ryan Williamson, and i am a resident of Kau. I am writting to express my
suuport for the preservation of Puna luu. 2 have spent countless days by the ocean with
the turtles, the birds, the fish and even on one occassion a hawaiian monk seal at Ninole.
The connection i feel to this sacred area runs deep in me and only illustrates how deep
it must run in the local people who have lived here for generations. Kau has a unique
chance to become a leader in preservation, sustainability, education, and environmental
awareness. 2 know of the many challenges we must overcome while instituting such an
initiative, but i also know the people of Kau and what they are capable of accomplishing.
I urge you to listen to the cry of Kau and do everything you know is right to preserve our
Puna luu. The lessons, love, hope, and happiness that have been shared there in the past
must continue into our future, so that we may continue a strong people, connected to our
heritage, our community, and eachother. Now is the time to stop the division of our
comminity and build a strong future through preservation, education and hope. thank you
