Re: Bill 55, Draft Z, Kailua Village Business Improvement District No.1
Dear Chairman I Ioffmann,
I encourage you to support the establishment of the Kailua Village Business Improvement District No. 1 #or
the future betterment of this community.
I have witnessed first-hand the deterioration, graffiti, neglect and crime in this area that is our beloved
historical Kailua Village. Everyone should be able to use the Village clay or night without being threatened
or concerned for hia or her slfety. From employees to shop owners to residents, we all have a vested stake
u1 the future of our Village.
it is my understanding that the Kailua Village Business Improvemc'at District has worked hand-in-hand
with the Waikiki Business Impruvemnnt District and the Fort Street Mall Business Improvement District to
mirror their successful examples by helping to reestablish a quality of life we can all be proud of in Kailua
Village.
Across the nation Business Improvement Districts have created win-win scenarios for small and large
rommunities when: individuals who really care, want fo get involved and want tv make a positive.

It is my hope that through this legal mechanism the private and public sector will work in concert to
improve and nti3intain the physical appearance and aesthetics of public right of ways, increased cleanliness
and security.
Now is the lime, we have the opportunity to do something pc~itive for our cnmmultity and to set an
example for others to Follow. Please support the passage of Bi1155, Draft 2 for us.
